From Jamaica to Queens — A Barber Built on Passion and Purpose

Ian is a certified professional barber at DMT BarberShop & BeautySpot, known for precision cuts, consistency, and a deep connection to community. With roots that span from Jamaica to Queens, his journey reflects dedication, resilience, and a lifelong passion for the craft of barbering.

Ian’s love for barbering began at a young age. As a child, he spent countless hours in barbershops, inspired by the culture, the conversations, and the confidence barbers gave their clients. By school age, he was already cutting friends’ hair, sharpening his skills and dreaming of owning his own shop one day.

After graduating high school in Jamaica, Ian committed himself fully to barbering. Through hard work and the support of family and friends, he opened his own barbershop — New Hype Barbershop — in St. Catherine, Jamaica. The shop operated successfully for nine years, becoming a trusted local space built on quality cuts, respect, and community pride.

Building a New Life and Continuing the Craft

In 2018, Ian made the life-changing decision to migrate to the United States in pursuit of greater opportunities for himself and his family. Leaving behind an established business was not easy, but his dedication to barbering never wavered.

Through close community connections, Ian was introduced to DMT BarberShop & BeautySpot in Queens — a shop that shared his values of professionalism, consistency, and community care. He joined the DMT team seven years ago and has continued to serve clients with the same passion and work ethic that defined his journey in Jamaica.

Today, Ian is proud to be part of the Queens barber community, delivering clean fades, sharp lineups, classic cuts, and dependable service to clients of all ages.

Family, Faith, and Community

Ian is the proud father of two daughters, Keian (24) and Accalia (18). He takes great pride in their growth and accomplishments, with one already migrated to the United States and the other preparing to follow. Family remains a central motivation in everything he does.

A devoted Christian, Ian believes strongly in giving back. Whether through charity, mentorship, or simply supporting those around him, he remains committed to uplifting the community that welcomed him.
